People want to learn Japanese for a lot of reasons.  You could be moving to Japan or taking a holiday there.  Or you may not need to speak Japanese at all but choose to in order to impress friends.  If you are able to talk in another language you will be given a wonderful feeling of achievement.

Although I had wanted to learn Japanese for a long time I guess the main reason why I finally decided to do something about it was because I was planning a long trip to Tokyo.  Considering I was going to be living there for 3 months I felt that I should try and communicate effectively in their language.  I’m never quite sure whether to say yes when asked if I can speak the language with fluency.

If you want my opinion, I believe that even though I think I can now communicate well now in Japanese, I still don’t think I know that much.  I doubt whether I will ever know it all to be honest.  There’s more to learn even if you think you’ve taught yourself well.  Being able to understand Japanese cartoons or movies now is a sure sign of how far I’ve come.  It’s always possible to understand in Japanese as I do in English.

I’m almost there in regards to what I’ve taught myself but I still have work to do.  It’s been tough to go from not knowing any words or phrases in Japanese to knowing a fair amount and you are probably wondering how I managed it.  Basically it took a lot of effort and motivation and a load of practice.  I have to admit the journey was most definitely a tough one.  Learning anything like a new language takes so much time consumption and dedication.  I would like to say though that if you have that patience and dedication you can achieve what I have.

Finding enough time to study with other things in life can be tough.  If, for example you use your time wisely you can fit in study.
