The members were this week thrilled to be able to announce that a 71 acre site at the site of the Ross School which holds a particular scientific interest is to be preserved.
The County Executive this last month has been able to pass the required legislation needed to allow the acquisition of the land by the School.
For the announcement to be made, the official were also in the presence of Nicole Ross, who is the daughter of the eminent Courtney Sale Ross. It of course was a great day for the school, and also for the people of the East end, and it is of course critically important that the legacy of Courtney Sale Ross be furthered by the protection that this land will now be afforded.
Both of the pieces of land that the school have acquired have been purchased by Courtney Sale Ross. A renowned philanthropist, Courtney Ross will be delighted to be able to help protect the landscape of the East Hampton Campus. Interestingly, the area of land, which is a beautiful example of tract of Pine Barrens, sits atop the locality’s most pure and deepest drinking water aquifer, so it has to be regarded as fantastic news that this is to be saved.
